Hayes Valley, San Francisco · restaurant
A Hayes Valley bar and restaurant built around Central and Eastern European comfort food (pierogis stuffed with cheese and potato, white kielbasa in sauerkraut, fresh crab cakes) and a cocktail list where every drink is named after a film. The Notting Hill, Flor de mi Secreto, and Hotsy Totsy set the pace while the wine list stretches from Greek and Hungarian into Italian territory rather than the usual Napa and Sonoma circuit. Intimate and low-lit, with most of the seats at or near the bar.
Signature cocktail — gin, earl grey syrup, lime juice, sage
Fresh-packed crab cakes with seasoning and dipping sauce
Handmade Polish dumplings filled with cheese and potato, served with sauces
