South Congress, Austin · restaurant
Austin’s first Dairy Queen now lives on as a 1970s-style diner where servers wear Keith Richards and Janis Joplin tees and the biscuits and gravy swap white sauce for guajillo chilis and tomato jam. Pancakes come fluffy with the right amount of griddled edge, the patio is the move on a good-weather morning, and weekends fill up fast enough that reservations actually matter.
Fried tostadas with black beans, avocado, queso fresco, and salsa macha
Griddled challah with honey-macerated strawberries, streusel, and whipped cream
House-cured salmon, poached eggs, hollandaise on English muffin with Urfa pepper
