An Italian pastry institution at the edge of North Beach since 1914, running on the same handcrafted recipes the founding family brought from Italy and has not seen a need to change. The St. Honoré Cake (puff pastry layered with chocolate buttercream and vanilla custard) has been the centerpiece for over a century; cannoli, princess cake, and a full case of Italian cookies fill out the rest. The room is simple, the case is serious, and nothing about it suggests it will not be here another hundred years.
