North Beach, San Francisco ยท restaurant
A North Beach institution since the early 1980s, Maykadeh fills a warm dining room with traditional Persian cooking that doesn't simplify itself. Lamb tongue and pache share the appetizer menu alongside kashke bademjan and hummus. The koobideh and barg kebabs are the centerpiece orders, arriving on skewers over saffron rice, and the room has stayed reliably full for four decades.
Smoked roasted eggplant with mint garlic sauce; a Persian staple.
Certified Angus beef and lamb, ground daily with Persian spices and saffron rice.
Thin-sliced filet mignon marinated in lemon and onion; the house showpiece.
