Worn wooden booths, opera posters, and espresso machines Giotta imported from Italy in 1956 — Caffe Trieste was the first espresso house on the West Coast and has never particularly cared that the rest of the city has tried to catch up. Coppola drafted The Godfather at a table here, the Saturday opera concert has run without interruption since 1971, and the house-roasted beans haven't changed.
