Seven Lower East Side bookshops take part in the sixth annual Halloween crawl with prizes, raffles, candy, and 10% off everything. Shops are open noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 24.
Hidden down a few basement steps in the East Village, this place is less “shop” and more “curated time capsule of culinary obsessions.” Bonnie knows every spine in here like a confidante (vintage cooking manuscripts, out-of-print gems, old restaurant guides) and she’ll gladly nerd out with you over charcuterie lore or 1920s cake design. Her hours are fickle (usually 1-6pm), so call ahead or make an appointment. And go ready to rummage.
