A day-long symposium on how books shape readers' lives, with talks, discussions, and displays of book-shaped works from personal book reports to collective zines. Celine Nguyen and Jackson Tejeda lead the program, and attendees leave with a new book.
Three-floor independent bookstore at the corner of Columbus and Jack Kerouac Alley that doubles as a publisher, the press launched the Pocket Poets Series in the fifties and has been printing books from the same address ever since. The poetry room on the upper floor is the reason most people make the climb; the ground floor runs the full range from biography to Beat literature to local zines. Open late, every day.
