Down the stairs from Market Street, beneath the Hearst Building, sits a subterranean cocktail lounge lined with vintage press clippings and printing equipment from SF's newspaper era. Live jazz (jump blues and swing from the '30s-'50s) plays most nights, and the cocktail list centers on house originals like The Chief (Jameson 12, coconut, Murphy's stout syrup, soda water). The clock in the Hearst Building window is the only marker. Just follow it downstairs.
