Philadelphia's Suraya teams up with Este for a one-night-only collaboration dinner on September 22. Chef Ale Kuri blends Este's coastal Mexican cuisine with Suraya's Levant-focused menu ahead of her upcoming Middle Eastern concept, Karaz.
A Mexican seafood restaurant where coastal flavors and house-made masa share equal billing. The pescado zarandeado (a whole butterflied fish grilled over charcoal with annatto and red chile) is the strongest argument for making a reservation, while masa-battered swordfish tacos, ceviche-loaded chips, and clams with habanero pico de gallo round out the menu. The covered patio looks onto the garden supplying much of the produce, giving the whole place a distinctly Austin sense of place.
Masa-battered swordfish with crunchy shredded cabbage and habanero-piquín hot sauce.
Cauliflower ceviche on a crispy tostada, inventive and punchy
Fresh snapper, pickled carrots, avocado, lime. Best of the ceviche lineup.
Whole butterflied fish, annatto red chile marinade, charcoal-grilled.
Passionfruit, pineapple, lime with tequila reposado. The standout on the marg menu.
