Stones Throw celebrates 30 years with a three-day outdoor festival at Lodge Room featuring Peanut Butter Wolf, A-Trak, Sudan Archives, Dam-Funk, and Eric Andre among 30 total acts. The festival runs October 16-18 with a stage, vendors, and food and drinks at Ave 56 and Figueroa.
Up on the second floor of a restored Masonic Lodge in Highland Park, Checker Hall manages to be grand without being pretentious. The room’s wide (booths and a bold central bar) bathed in warm lighting and vintage touches; there’s a balcony if you want to eavesdrop on the street below. The menu leans Mediterranean‑Levantine with sharable dips, skewers, and veggie plates that hit weight and flavor. Cocktails are creative (strong in tequila and spice), the crowd is mixed.
