Nikolaj Hess leads Marc Mommaas on tenor sax with Tony Scherr on bass and Allan Mednard on drums for two sets at 7 and 8:30 PM.
Behind a small blue light on Ave C (the venue's only exterior sign) live jazz, world music, and avant-garde acts run every single night in a low-ceilinged Alphabet City room that fills fast. The Brazilian samba nights on Wednesdays pack the floor, and the backyard garden in summer takes the whole thing somewhere majestic.
