A dive bar with just the right amount of grooming.. Lowboy nails the Highland Park brief: retro booths, punchy lighting, a cocktail menu that includes a mezcal old-fashioned, and a clientele that looks like the casting call for a “cool bar in a cool show.” There’s a burger with jalapeño jam that’s better than it needs to be, a soundtrack that stays on vinyl, and bartenders who know your name and your order if you come twice. Somehow, it’s both hot and low-key, like the best kind of summer fling.
Quarter-pound beef chuck smash patty with 2000 island dressing, American, red pepper jam.
Tequila-based with Lolita coffee liqueur, fernet, honey, and lemon oil: a smoky twist on the classic
