The Susie Glaze New Folk Ensemble, Tracy Newman and Art Podell, and the SWING RIOTS Quirktette headline this benefit concert marking 25 years of FolkWorks. Three distinct folk acts share the bill, from Americana to acoustic jazz and Celtic-inspired sets.
Tucked into a mellow stretch of Pico, this half-century-old institution morphs effortlessly from cozy instrument den by day to hushed concert sanctuary by night. Wood-lined walls sag under scores of acoustic gems (from ukuleles and sitars to rare harp guitars) beckoning curious fingers and offbeat finds. In the back, folding chairs crowd a tiny stage where everything from folk legends to rising voices play like they’re living room guests, no amplified theatrics. Just pure, intimate music.
