The Castro Merchants host their fall Wine Walk starting at The Academy on Market Street, with wine stops at neighborhood businesses. Ticketed, runs 6pm to 9pm on Sept 24.
Thirty wines by the glass in a dimly lit, art-lined room that borrows its bones from a Parisian cave. French and Spanish charcuterie, house-made grilled cheese, and artisan cheese boards anchor the food. Serious enough to slow down a bottle, not so serious it gets in the way. Live music three nights a week (Blues, Jazz, Gypsy Jazz) gives it a third identity beyond wine bar or dining room.
