Guitarist Brent Canter leads a quartet with Sam Barsh on piano, Ross Schodek on bass, and Charles Ruggiero on drums at The Den at Montauk. Canter, a former student of Kenny Burrell at UCLA, blends jazz with alt-rock and electronic influences.
The seafood hummus (a vadouvan-spiced base piled with lump crab, lobster, mussels, and octopus) is the kind of starter that derails the rest of the ordering process. Live jazz plays most nights while tableside caviar, Hampton crab cakes, and dry-aged Flannery steaks lean hard into East Coast coastal-club territory.
