LA Gayming Society's monthly Gaymer Night takes over Akbar with a beat 'em up themed arcade room featuring Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Streets of Rage 2, and Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Drag performances from Gab A. Goola, Catalina LaGrande, and Powder D'Vour accompany a raffle for themed prize packages, hosted by Isadora Spreads.
Akbar feels like Silver Lake’s long-standing clubhouse: punk roots, cheap drinks, crowded dance room, mellow front lounge. DJs, drag, sing-alongs, themed nights (Planet Queer, Bears in Space, etc.), the calendar is full, and the vibe is refreshingly all-inclusive. No velvet ropes, no attitude; just a place to show up, move, laugh, maybe stumble out after last call with your shoes half off.
