Thursday, October 8, 2026, 10:00 PM - 1:00 AM · Books Are Magic, Cobble Hill / Carroll Gardens, New York City
Books Are Magic and the NYCLU host a Banned Books Week panel on protecting the freedom to read, featuring librarian Karissa O'Reilly, authors Dr. Sonja Cherry-Paul and Rhonda Roumani, moderated by PEN America's Philomena Polefrone. Free event at Brooklyn Heights Library, also streaming live.
Tightly curated shelves, strong staff picks, and a kids corner that turns browsing into an actual occasion. Every section feels assembled by people who read obsessively and want to pass that same impulse along. Books are treated less like inventory and more like a living recommendation system. Everything on the shelf feels like it’s there for a reason.
